Julie Balch Samora, MD/PhD/MPH/MPA
Julie Balch Samora is a fourth year orthopaedic surgery resident at The Ohio State University. She earned her BFA at Carnegie Mellon University where she studied bassoon performance and biological sciences. Dr. Samora then received a masters of music at Yale University before pursuing an MD/PhD program at West Virginia University, where she also earned masters degrees in public health and public administration.
Dr. Samora has always had a passion for education and research, and healthcare quality, and has dedicated herself to improving patient safety. She has served as the housestaff representative for the OSU Wexner Medical Center’s Leadership Council for Clinical Quality, Duty Hours Task Force Committee, Operating Room Committee, Graduate Medical Education Committee, and co-Chaired the Resident Advisory Council. She serves as an AAOS orthopaedic resident representative to the AAMC, and is a member of the ORR administrative board.
Julie will complete a hand fellowship with the goal of pursuing clinical research to improve the care and treatment of pediatric hand conditions, as well as quality practices in healthcare. She aims to serve as a physician-scientist, educator, role model, and mentor for future generations of students and residents in the healthcare professions.
