- Dates: April 25-28, 2007, Miami Beach, FL
- Participants: Orthopaedic surgeons, Young Investigators, researchers, industry representatives, government representatives, and other medical specialties (by invitation only).
- Purpose of Workshop: The 2007 AAOS Research Symposium on Fracture Repair: Challenges and Opportunities will convene leaders in the field of fracture healing research and establish the current knowledge of the cellular, molecular and engineering aspects of bone repair and regeneration.
- Overview of Topics:
- Tissue Response and Cellular Recruitment after Skeletal Injury
- Cell Signaling During Formation and Repair
- Emerging Technologies in Fracture Repair
- Critical Issues in Translational and Clinical Research for the Study of New Technologies to Enhance Bone Repair
- Publications: Manuscripts detailing the research presented at the symposium will be published in a supplement of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) in early 2008. The future research directions established at the symposium, as well as the symposium proceedings, will be published in a simultaneous Current Concepts Review article in JBJS.
