Patient Demographics
Information about Orthopaedic Patients and Conditions
In this section, you will see numerous links to tables, charts, and factsheets containing information about the people seen by orthopaedic surgeons. We present the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; the National Center for Health Statistics. Typically, these data lag two years behind the current calendar year.

! Important notice!
If you have recently requested the number of diagnoses or procedures for outpatient surgery, please note that the 2006 National Survey of Ambulatory Surgery (NSAS) dataset was problematic and is now being corrected by the National Center for Health Statistics. Accordingly, any aggregate statistics provided by AAOS and based on the 2006 NSAS dataset are not valid. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please contact oracle@aaos.org with any questions.
