POSITION TITLE:
Clinical Quality and Medical Affairs Coordinator – Washington, D.C. Office
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Interface with national organizations on issues related to regulatory, quality, and medical
affairs. Attend national meetings of the PCPI, NQF, AQA and SQA, AMA House of Delegates and RUC. Coordinate AAOS involvement in relevant panels and committees. Identifies candidates for these panels and committees and prepares and submits applications.
Assist the Senior Manager in managing and interpreting current political, medical, and
financial affairs in the national regulatory, quality and medical affairs arena (i.e., consultation on
federal, state, and private payer initiatives and on administrative and personnel-related
developments at federal healthcare agencies).
Monitor opportunities to comment and/or vote on issues from the PCPI, NQF, SQA, AQA, AMA, House of Delegates and the RUC.
Participate in conference calls with regulatory, quality and medical affairs stakeholders.
Respond to inquiries from members, allied health professionals, and the general public
regarding liaison activities.
Write articles for the AAOS Now to educate and inform the AAOS fellowship on the impact of AAOS liaison activities.
TRAVEL:
20 days per year
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, public health, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the regulatory, clinical quality and medical affairs arena
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills
• Strong computer skills
Desired:
• Master’s degree in public health or a related field with a concentration in quality measurement.
• Association experience
• Significant experience with clinical quality improvement issues, with special emphasis in performance measure development
