POSITION TITLE:

Web Programmer

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Develops, enhances, and maintains custom in-house web applications and modules that interface to and augment the Academy's business system.

Develops, enhances, and maintains web pages for the Academy’s public web site. Support user requests via the Help Desk system. Investigate, resolve, and follow-up with users. Writes technical documentation for new and existing web applications.

Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a team member. Participates in and contributes to team and client meetings. Works with senior team members to learn and understand AAOS business processes and associated applications. Is willing to take direction from experienced team leaders. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward complex problem solving. Provides smart solutions.

TRAVEL:

Approximately 10-15 days per year

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: BS or BA in computer science or a related field. Capable of thinking “out of the box” or being stretched within a fast-moving team environment. Demonstrate ability to manage projects as well as react to changing priorities. Excellent analytical skills and creative approach to problem-solving. Ability to define and resolve technical problems in varied and complex information systems environments. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Possesses a high degree of personal integrity and interpersonal skills. Able to work with and train non-technical clients (This position requires extensive interaction with all Academy staff) to develop and maintain systems for many different AAOS departments. Support user requests via the Help Desk system. Investigate, resolve, and follow-up with users. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies. Good technical documentation skills.

Technical requirements and experience:

• Detailed understanding of application design, development, test and implementation of medium to large web application projects.

• 3+ years experience with designing applications using Microsoft.NET based languages

• 3+ years experience with Microsoft technologies including VB.NET, ASP.NET, XML, scripting languages including VBScript/JavaScript and HTML

• Development experience with SQL Server 2000 or latest,

• Experience with Web services, and protocols such as SOAP and HTTP

• Understanding of object oriented programming and common design patterns

Desired: Knowledge of XML development; Knowledge and ability to create web page layouts via CSS as well as creating cross-browser supported CSS; Knowledge of web application security methodologies.
