When taking this course you will examine the various treatment options for the management of patients with massive rotator cuff tears. A wide range of treatment options including arthroscopic repair, patch reconstructions, tendon transfers and arthroplasty will be discussed and demonstrated. This course will include ample hands-on lab sessions for you to practice these procedures.
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
• Describe the techniques and perform arthroscopic repair of a massive rotator cuff tear, as well as concomitant arthroscopic procedures treating the biceps and suprascapular nerve.
• Perform alternative treatments such as patch reconstruction and superior capsular reconstruction for massive rotator cuff tears.
• Review the anatomy and perform tendon transfers as a salvage option for massive rotator cuff tears.
• Recognize the indications and demonstrate the surgical techniques for arthroplasty in patients with non-repairable massive rotator cuff tears.
