FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 2010 AAOS Satellite Symposium
- Who can put on a Satellite Symposium during the AAOS meeting? Only companies exhibiting at the AAOS meeting are eligible to present satellite symposia. Third party organizers must be designated by the exhibitor on the exhibitor’s stationery and forwarded to AAOS Housing & Travel Specialist, Anita Cooper (cooper@aaos.org) before any investigation of space can begin. Sleeping room requirements for third party individuals must be reserved through the exhibitor’s housing allotment
- Association Fee - $5,000 before 9/15/09 & $7,500 after 9/15/09
- What is included in the Association Fee
- Room rental (any food & beverage/audiovisual charges are the responsibility of the exhibitor)
- Listing in the AAOS Exhibitor Directory
- Listing on the AAOS Annual Meeting Exhibitor web site

- Marketing Options
- Publicity and Advertising: AAOS does not publish exhibitor social events in the Final Program. Promotional materials of any kind may not use the AAOS logo or name or make mention of AAOS or the AAOS Annual Meeting. Wording such as “presented in conjunction with,” “preceding” or “prior to the AAOS Annual Meeting” is not allowed. Exhibitors may include on their materials “AAOS Annual Meeting—Booth #XXX—March 10-12, 2010.” These rules apply to materials developed for use before, during and after the annual meeting. Any such intended use must receive prior written approval from the AAOS Exhibits Manager, Patricia Whitaker. Direct questions and/or requests via e-mail to whitaker@aaos.org.
Order forms for inclusion of promotional materials in official AAOS publications, the AAOS Orthopaedist’s Bag and for purchasing AAOS Annual Meeting pre-registration lists are available online at www.aaos.org/exhibits, and will be included in the Exhibitor Service Manual. Except for distribution from the approved AAOS Orthopaedist’s Bag, AAOS’s on-site newspaper or within the exhibitor’s allotted exhibit space, the distribution of handbills, fliers or other literature within the convention center, hotels, or other venues is prohibited. Failure to abide by these regulations will result in the loss of priority points or other action deemed appropriate by AAOS. - Enduring Program Options: At the discretion of the exhibitor, AAOS does not offer nor dictate what enduring options can be offered by the company.
- CME Accreditation: AAOS does not provide CME accreditation for exhibitor “Educational” events. Exhibitors wishing to provide credit for their “Educational” event will need to obtain credit from other accredited CME providers.
- Can Exhibitor use AAOS program chairs/faculty? AAOS does not have any stipulations on the faculty used. However, the program chairs/faculty cannot wear or use their AAOS badges at the event.

- Is there a Mailing List available and what is the cost? Yes, the cost & form for 2010 is available online at www.aaos.org/exhibits.
- Registration information (Does AAOS handle this or can registrants be rerouted to Exhibitor website?) AAOS has no involvement with symposia registration and linking to the AAOS web site is not an option.
- Average attendance for Satellite Symposium - 25-500ppl (Of the 31,000+ people who attend the AAOS meeting, 17,000+ are eligible for CME credit. However, AAOS cannot predict the number of participants for a specific event. Attendance varies on the number of people invited and the subject matter.)
- How many symposia run at the same time slot? Depends on the number of requests received for a specific time and the availability of space.
- Did most of the symposia offer meals? Yes.
- Are we allotted a time slot or can we choose? Either 6:00AM – 7:30AM or 6:00PM - 10:00PM
- What was the average duration of each symposium from last year? Average duration: 1 ½ hours
- What was the average # of speakers at each symposium? The logistics for each symposium are different so the number of speakers varies.
