The Executive Director of a state orthopaedic association provides overall management services to the board of directors and members of the organization. The Executive Director oversees the state orthopaedic society’s publications, continuing education, political activism, and assorted other areas. The Executive Director also works closely with the board of directors to determine the needs of the society from a business and administrative perspective.The responsibilities of the Executive Director include: budgeting and financial management, membership recruitment, personnel supervision, coordination of lobbying efforts, development and implementation of policy relative to legislative, economic, and educational issues, newsletter writing and production, fundraising, Political Action Committee administration, supervision and administration of board, scientific, and committee meetings, execution of special projects as directed by board members, provision of advice and guidance of optimize the effectiveness of the Society, and all other aspects of association operations.
