Orthopedic Surgeons needed for Doctors Without Borders
Main responsibilities include:
- Provide surgical care to trauma victims pre-, peri- and post-op
- Work closely with international and Haitian staff team using MSF protocols
- Coach Haitian staff doctors and nurses during rounds and operations as much as possible
- Provide input to field coordinator and rest of team about observed problems and propose solutions
- Assess emergency patients when called
MSF requirements:
- Completed residency in orthopedic surgery
- Valid degree and current license
- Current or recent practical experience
- Ability to work with limited technical resources – strong clinical skills
- Able to adapt to already running program – teamwork is essential
- At ease with people from different cultures
- Availability on short notice
- Minimum commitment for 1 month
- French is a major asset
MSF covers:
- Round-trip transportation to and from the field
- Room and board in project country
- Starting monthly stipend of $1,400
- Health, dental, and vision insurance during assignment and for 3 months following your assignment
- Additional emergency & liability coverage
