Courses

  • AAOS holds over 30 separate continuing medical education courses each year, some in the Orthopaedic Learning Center (a joint venture of the AAOS and Arthroscopy Association of North America) at its suburban Chicago headquarters and others throughout the United States

AAOS Annual Meeting

  • Each year 13,000 to 15,000 orthopaedic surgeons and allied healthcare professionals attend the AAOS Annual Meeting – it is the largest gathering of orthopaedic surgeons in the world
  • International Affiliate Members can attend the AAOS Annual Meeting free of charge if registered in advance - this is a savings of $600 (members who register onsite will be charged an onsite registration fee of $150.)
  • Over 180 instructional course lectures on numerous orthopaedic topics are offered at each Annual Meeting. To attend an instructional course you must register and pay the appropriate fee.
  • All members (domestic and international) must register for the meeting – special registration for members opens prior to non-members, usually in September/October. Hotel rooms can also be reserved in advance of normal registration.

Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS)

  • Available free as a member benefit to all International Affiliate Members – a savings of $254 per year
  • JAAOS is the most widely and intensively read orthopaedic journal in the United States
  • JAAOS is currently published monthly – but starting in September 2005, it will be published monthly
  • The printed version of the journal is mailed to each International Affiliate Member as each issue becomes available
  • The on-line version is available at www.jaaos.org and is free to members with Internet access
    • Abstracts are currently available in French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish as well as English. View translated abstracts
    • Complete articles are available in Adobe PDF format – members can view articles online or create paper copies on their own printer. Articles since 2000 are also available in HTML.
    • Articles and abstracts can be searched online at any time

The AAOS Web Site

International Affiliate Members have access to the public and private (members only) sections of the AAOS web site including:

  • My Account - where the following functions are available
    • Update your address, phone, fax and E-mail information
    • Change your web site password (AAOS highly recommends that you do so)
    • Check on the shipping status of any products ordered through the AAOS
    • Pay your annual membership dues on line
    • Access the private membership directory - a constantly updated online directory of all AAOS members including their E-mail address if known
    • Private online discussion groups where you can post questions, make comments, and exchange information with your AAOS peers and colleagues throughout the world.
