AAOS - What We Offer
The Academy is the word's largest professional association for orthopaedic surgeons. It's mission is to:
- Foster and assure the highest quality of orthopaedic care
- Education of orthopaedic surgeons, other healthcare providers, and the public
- Promote musculoskeletal research
- Provide leadership in the development of healthcare policy
The Academy sponsors and participates in a wide variety of activities throughout each year including:
- An annual scientific meeting (the Annual Meeting)
- Continuing education courses where CME credit can be earned
- Self-assessment examination programs
- Scientific publications in its Journal, the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS)
- A job placement service
- Healthcare advocacy programs and a communications program with legislative leaders
- Public education
- Promulgation of the ethical practice of medicine
- Analysis of information concerning trends and activities in healthcare delivery
- Maintenance of liaisons with related musculoskeletal and surgical associations
