Resident Membership
- Who is eligible:
Senior residents (4th and 5th year) and postgraduate fellows who will be eligible for certification by the ABOS - Benefits include:

Candidate Membership
- Who is eligible:
Surgeons who have completed either a residency or a fellowship and who have requested advancement from Resident Membership - Benefits include:
Subscription to the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS)
Free Annual Meeting registration
Member prices on courses and products
Forum for Young Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Annual Meeting
Free access to the Academy's Job Placement Service
Fellowship
- Who is eligible: Fellowship requires
Certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS)
That the surgeon has been in practice for a minimum of three years
Formal review by the Membership Committee of the AAOS
Approval by the Academy's Board of Directors - Benefits include:
Subscription to the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS)
Subscription to the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (American Volume)
Free Annual Meeting registration

Voting rights and the right to hold office in the AAOS
International Affiliate Membership
- Who is eligible:
Orthopaedic surgeons who practice outside of the United States who are in good standing in the orthopaedic association of their country of practice - Benefits include:
