AOA’s OMeGA opens grant management system
The American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) established the OMeGA Medical Grants Association in 2008 at the request of the orthopaedic medical device industry. OMeGA provides an independent, nonconflicted avenue for funding orthopaedic graduate medical education (GME) and serves as an independent third party mechanism to distribute GME funding.
OMeGA is an independent legal entity that provides the necessary safeguards to identify and eliminate potential conflicts of interest and ensures transparency regarding funding mechanisms for GME. OMeGA’s online grant management system is now operational; all applications are due by May 8, 2009. Approved grants will be announced on June 18, 2009. Find out more about how OMeGA is structured, the nine subspecialty areas of orthopaedic fellowships, and the application process at www.omegamedicalgrants.org
