Join “Fit to a T”
“Fit to a T” is a public education program offered by the U.S. Bone and Joint Decade (USBJD) in partnership with the Public Library Association and the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The program, an informational session that can be presented at community public libraries, civic groups, and other public venues, focuses on bone health, osteoporosis, and how to avoid fragility fractures.
Presented by medical experts, health information specialists, and patients, the sessions provide the necessary information to help individuals—particularly those who are in their mid-40s to late 60s, are highly susceptible to osteoporotic fractures, or have sustained a previous fracture—make informed decisions on bone health. Each session features a PowerPoint presentation, a live demonstration on health resources available through libraries and MedlinePlus, collateral materials, discussions, a question/answer period, and follow-up. Hand-outs include a program booklet, the 2004 Surgeon’s General’s Report on Bone Health and Osteoporosis: What it Means to You, and a bibliography.
Volunteers are needed to assist with “Fit to a T” sessions in communities across the country. For more information, visit www.fit2t.org or call (847) 384-4008.
