The AAOS 2012 webinar series
By Gerald R. Williams Jr, MD
Shorter programs, lower subscription price, more interaction
Webinars are an increasingly popular learning tool for orthopaedic surgeons and residents. For 2012, the AAOS CME Courses Committee has developed a 10-program webinar series, covering a range of orthopaedic topics.
Each program is jointly sponsored by an orthopaedic specialty society, including the American Association of Hip & Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
All 2012 webinars will be just 60 minutes long. As a result, programs will be tightly focused and use more case-based illustrations. The use of interactive tools, such as audience polling on treatment decisions for case discussions, will also be increased.
The 2012 webinars will also feature new social networking tools. Webinar participants will be able to chat (one-to-one, one-to-many, or one-to-all), share, and twitter with others during the program.
