AOA’s Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors
Membership in the American Orthopaedic Association’s (AOA) Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors (CORD) currently includes 121 resident programs and one fellowship program. 2011 ASES Research Grant Award
Applications are now being accepted for the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) 2011 Research Grant Award. The $20,000 grant is for basic or clinical investigations and is open to orthopaedic departments only; proposals must be in NIH R01 format and no longer than 10 pages. The application deadline date is Sept. 9, 2010. Awardees will be notified by December 2010.

2011 ASES Exchange Fellowship applications
The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) is accepting applications for its 2011 Exchange Fellowship Program. The 2011 Traveling Fellows are eligible for an ASES Research Grant and receive an expense-paid trip to the ASES Closed Meeting the following year to present their travel experiences. The application deadline date is Sept. 15, 2010.

ASOPA/NAOT 2010 annual meeting
The 2010 joint meeting of the American Society of Orthopaedic Physician’s Assistants (ASOPA) and the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists (NAOT) will be held Aug. 4–7 in Houston. Designed for orthopaedic allied healthcare professionals, the educational program at ASOPA/NAOT 2010 will feature a combination of lectures, hands-on workshops, roundtable discussions, and an Exhibit Hall where more than 35 exhibitors will showcase the latest in orthopaedic products and technologies.

Hip Society Awards 2011
The Hip Society announces three awards for papers submitted from the various training programs or from practicing orthopaedic surgeons for presentation at the 2011 Hip Society meeting. The Otto Aufranc and John Charnley Awards recognize innovative research, either clinical or basic, encompassing important advances in the management of hip disorders. The Frank Stinchfield Award is given to a resident or fellow in training who submits an outstanding contribution concerning hip problems.
Any or all of these awards will be granted annually at the discretion of the Society’s Awards Committee. The author(s) of each winning award paper will receive a $2,000 honorarium. Papers must be submitted by Dec. 1, 2010.

Apply for the IBMS Rodan Fellowship
The International Bone & Mineral Society’s (IBMS) Rodan Fellowship is given annually to support the research activities of a deserving young investigator in the bone field. Support is a 1-year, nonrenewable $40,000 grant payable to the successful applicant’s institution. The research may be basic, translational, clinical, or outcomes-based in bone biology or diseases of the bone. The application deadline is Aug. 2, 2010. For more information, visit www.ibmsonline.org
MAOA accepting scholarship applications for 2011 meeting
The Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA) is accepting applications for education grants for senior residents/fellows and new in practice (first 2 years) to attend its 2011 annual meeting. The grants are $2,500 each; the deadline for submitting applications is Nov. 1, 2010. The Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS)/Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) Travel Award recognizes early-career clinician scientists and clinical investigators who play a key role in an original research project in clinical or translational medicine. Five recipients will present their work at the 2011 ORS Annual Meeting and will receive a $500 honorarium, travel reimbursement, and 2 years ORS Annual Meeting registration. OREF/CCJR Clinical Practice Award
OREF and Current Concepts in Joint Replacement (CCJR) invite applications for the OREF/CCJR Clinical Practice Award recogniz-ing completed investigations focusing on healthcare policy, clinical outcomes, or translational research that has immediate clinical impact in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The primary author will present at the 27th Annual Winter CCJR meeting in Orlando, Fla., in December, and will receive a $2,000 award and travel reimbursement. The application deadline is Sept. 1.
