AAOS Now practice management journal club

Thank you for your interest in the AAOS Now practice management journal club.

Several recent articles and reports have noted a paucity of practice management material taught during residency training. Surveys of residents and former residents indicate that the recently trained orthopaedist is ill-prepared to face the business aspects of orthopaedic practice, ranging from contracts with partners or hospital at the beginning of one’s career to the coverage of the “the tail” of liability insurance at the end of the career. And while certainly not every resident will become a managing partner in a practice, an appreciation of the various aspects of practice management and healthcare business operations can be of value to all.

To that end, AAOS Now has collected 30+ articles published within its pages over the past year on practice management and is offering their use for review and discussion in a journal club format. Further, AAOS Now has secured funding from HCA - Healthcare Corporation of America to be able to offer sponsorships of $500 to residency programs wishing to incorporate such discussions in their programs. (sponsorships will be limited to the first 10 programs to apply.)

Applications for the sponsorships must be made by the residency program director. Please complete the fields, save a copy of the (completed) document to your computer, then email that copy to aaoscomm@aaos.org
