AAOS stretches your dues dollar
By Pam Winkler
Member discounts add up
How many ways do your AAOS membership dues deliver value to you? Consider the following:
- A voice in the political process, including a permanent presence in Washington, D.C.
- Practice management assistance, including a variety of resources ranging from the online practice management center to a group purchasing program for office and medical supplies, to free primers and a resource directory of vendors
- Educational opportunities ranging from online and in-person courses to journals that keep you up-to-date on cutting edge developments in the field
- Print and online materials to help educate your patients, market your practice, and meet requirements for licensure and certification
Although some of these benefits are intangible, others have a definite dollar value. Consider, for example, the difference between member and nonmember pricing on educational opportunities such as the Annual Meeting and print or online journals (Table 1).
Members also receive significant discounts on AAOS courses and products. Last year, for example, members who registered for courses saved on average $242; members who purchased products saved an average of $126.
Get the most value for your membership dues. For more information on member benefits, visit the member services pages of the AAOS Web site, www.aaos.org/mbrsrvcs
