AAHKS calls for abstracts
Abstract submissions for the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) 2011 annual meeting are being accepted online from now until June 1 at www.aahks.org
The Third Annual Resident Arthroplasty Course sponsored by AAHKS will be held on Nov. 4, just prior to the AAHKS Annual Meeting in Dallas. This course is specifically for residents in the R3 year of orthopaedic surgery training. Course attendees will receive free tuition for both the Resident Arthroplasty Course and the AAHKS Annual Meeting.

ASES issues call for abstracts
The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) invites abstracts for the following meetings:
- ASES 2011 closed meeting, Oct. 12–15, 2011, The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
- ASES 2012 open meeting, Feb. 11, 2012, San Francisco
- 8th Biennial AAOS/ASES Shoulder and Elbow Course, spring 2012, location to be determined

2012 ASES Research Grant
Applications are now being accepted for the ASES 2012 Research Grant Award. The $20,000 grant is for basic or clinical investigations and is open to orthopaedic departments only; proposals must be in NIH R01 format and no longer than 10 pages. The application deadline is Sept. 8, 2011.

2011 POSNA annual meeting
The 2011 Annual Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) meeting will be held May 12–14, 2011, in Montreal, Canada. A wide spectrum of pediatric musculoskeletal disorders will be presented and discussed in more than 93 podium presentations, 20 posters, and 75 e-posters. A special topic section on Saturday will focus on healthcare reform and will assess and compare current models in Canada and Massachusetts to the new U.S. healthcare reform act.
The one-day course on “Evidence-Based Medicine in Pediatric Orthopaedics: What Is It? Why Does It Matter? How Should You Do It?” will be held on May 11, prior to the start of the annual meeting in Montreal.
Preregistration for the annual meeting and the one-day course closes April 10. After April 10, registrations will be accepted on site.

Knee Society call for abstracts
The deadline for abstract submissions for the 2011 Knee Society members meeting (Sept. 15–17, 2011, in London, Ontario, Canada) and the 2012 Specialty Day (Feb. 11, 2012, in San Francisco) is June 1. Only Knee Society members can submit abstracts for consideration for the 2011 members meeting; anyone may submit abstracts for award paper consideration for the 2012 Specialty Day. Hip Society Awards 2012
The Hip Society has three awards: The Otto Aufranc and John Charnley Awards, which recognize innovative research, either clinical or basic, encompassing important advances in the management of hip disorders, and the Frank Stinchfield Award for a resident or fellow in training who submits an outstanding contribution concerning hip problems.
Winning authors will receive a $2,000 honorarium. Papers must be submitted by Dec. 1, 2011.
