The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) webinar series is free to AOFAS members and all orthopaedic residents and fellows; it is also available for a small fee to AAOS members and all other orthopaedic professionals. The next webinar, “Sports Injuries of the Foot and Ankle: Controversies in Treatment and Rehab,” will be held June 4 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. CST; registration closes on June 2. AOFAS announces Resident Review Course
The AOFAS Resident Review Course will be held Sept. 28, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Chaired by Matthew Roberts, MD, the full-day program will provide valuable instruction for residents exploring a career in foot and ankle surgery. 2014 ASES Research Grant Award
Applications are now being accepted for the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) 2014 Research Grant Award. The $20,000 grant is for basic or clinical investigations and is open to orthopaedic departments only; proposals must be in NIH R01 format and no longer than 10 pages. Register for ASSH courses
Online registration is open for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) Comprehensive Review in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery course, July 11–14, 2013, in Chicago. On July 11, the AAOS and the ASSH will cosponsor a General Orthopaedic Review course.
The ASSH Advanced Techniques in Reconstructive Elbow Surgery course will be held Aug. 9–10, 2013, in Rosemont, Ill. The 2-day program will include lectures, panel discussions, and hands-on training in the cadaver laboratory. Specific techniques covered will include elbow arthroscopy, elbow instability, elbow fractures, and arthroplasty. For more information, visit http://www.assh.org/
CSRS seeks abstracts

Hip Society Rothman-Ranawat Traveling Fellowship

USBJI grant mentoring program
The United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) grant mentoring program provides early-career clinical investigators an opportunity to work with experienced researchers to assist them in securing funding and other survival skills required for pursuing an academic career. The program offers attendees the opportunity to maintain relationships with mentors until their application is funded.
The grant mentoring program is open to promising junior faculty, senior fellows, or postdoctoral researchers nominated by their department or division chairs. It is also open to senior fellows or residents who are doing research and have a faculty appointment in place or confirmed. Basic and clinical investigators, without or with training awards (including K awards), are invited to apply.
Investigators selected to take part in the program will attend two workshops, 12 to 18 months apart, and work with faculty between workshops to develop their grant applications.
The next workshop will take place Nov. 8–10, 2013, in Toronto, Canada. The deadline for applications is July 15. For more information, visit www.usbji.org
