Own the Bone helps manage bone health
Created in response to the Surgeon General’s call to action in the 2004 Report on Bone Health and Osteoporosis, the American Orthopaedic Association’s (AOA) Own the Bone is a multispecialty quality improvement initiative designed to educate clinicians and patients on bone health, osteoporosis, and the prevention of fragility fractures. Subscribers have access to a Web-based Registry to manage patients and receive tools to help implement the program, including the Best Practice Library with information on bone health practices and procedures at other institutions. Subscribers can add best practices to this library or integrate a best practice from another institution.
Own the Bone helps institutions manage bone health with comprehensive reporting capabilities showing compliance against all of the measures for each patient. Additionally, participating sites can benchmark their performance by mean percentage against other participating sites. Enrolled systems can benchmark against sites within the system.
To learn more about Own the Bone, including how to win a free 1-year subscription, contact Michael Boros, project coordinator, at (847) 318-7336 or e-mail ownthebone@aoassn.org
