The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) is seeking applications for its 2013–2014 Health Policy Fellowship. The goal of the AAHKS Health Policy Fellowship is to provide the fellow with the requisite exposure, training, and skills to prepare for the advocacy of health policy efforts of AAHKS. The 2-year program will provide exposure to the various legislative and regulatory bodies that affect members’ ability to render healthcare services to their patients. AAHKS sponsors RUC survey course
The American Medical Association/Relative Value Scale Update Committee (AMA/RUC) Physicians Work Survey Training Course will take place on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, Dallas. Participants can then attend the AAHKS Annual Meeting (same location, Nov. 4–6) and take advantage of AAHKS member pricing.

The goal of the course is to provide attendees with information on how to accurately complete the RUC survey on hip and knee codes for the review process. The RUC is responsible for making recommendations on relative value units (RVUs) for new and revised codes and for annually updating RVUs to reflect changes in medical practice. These values determine the rate at which Medicare and other payers reimburse for procedures. Recommendations are made to the RUC based on survey data collected from practicing orthopaedic surgeons.

ABJS/CORR seek submissions for Urist, Andry Awards
The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons (ABJS), in conjunction with Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research (CORR), has issued a call for manuscripts for the Marshall R. Urist Young Investigator Award and the Nicolas Andry Award. The deadline for submissions for both awards is Oct. 1, 2012.

The $5,000 Urist Award is limited to orthopaedic surgeon investigators younger than age 40 or with fewer than 7 years of post-training (including fellowships) at the time of application. The submitted work must deal with clinically relevant laboratory or clinical research related to the musculoskeletal system and should reflect work primarily done by the young investigator. This research may not have won an award or been previously published as a full paper. Only one manuscript per principal investigator may be submitted.

The $25,000 Andry Award is open to experienced orthopaedic investigators, including surgeons doing clinically relevant basic or patient-oriented research. Submissions should review a body of musculoskeletal research that has significantly contributed to orthopaedic knowledge and has been conducted and published over an extended period of time. The work may be ongoing. Bodies of work that in substance have received previous awards are not eligible.

Submission for one of these awards precludes simultaneous submission for the other. All submissions must be submitted electronically. Guidelines and instructions can be found on the website www.editorialmanager.com/corr
