Kim Templeton, MD, addresses UN Commission

Kimberly J. Templeton, MD, (pictured second from right) addressed the United Nations 52nd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women on Friday,

Feb. 29, as part of a panel sponsored by the Medical Women’s International Association in collaboration with the American Medical Women’s Association, National Council of Women’s Health, and National Council of Women, USA.

The panel discussed equity and empowerment for women in the medical profession, as well as efforts to address these issues and to obtain funding support. Dr. Templeton focused remarks on female surgeons in the United States, and the Academy’s efforts to increase the numbers of women in orthopaedics through mentoring programs and earlier exposure of medical students to musculoskeletal topics.
