Teaching orthopaedics in another country requires participants to have not only an understanding of the clinical materials, but also the ability to effectively communicate in a cross-cultural setting. “Teach, Travel, Learn”—the two-day workshop sponsored by the AAOS and Orthopaedics Overseas—will help prepare you for the challenges of teaching orthopaedics in the developing world.

Whether you’re already committed to finding a volunteer opportunity or just interested in learning more, this workshop gives you a better understanding of the realities of volunteering in a setting where resources are scarce and the infrastructure is unfamiliar. It will enable you to prepare for the experience, both personally and professionally.

The workshop also includes a special session for spouses that covers how they can contribute and what they can do if they choose to travel along.

Teach, Travel, Learn is scheduled for June 13-14, at George Washington University Medical Center, in Washington, D.C. Register before March 31 and save $50 on tuition. Deep discounts (of more than 50 percent!) are available to the first five residents who register.
