Want to learn more about volunteering around the world?
By Lisa Cohen
Teaching orthopaedics in another country requires participants to have not only an understanding of the clinical materials, but also the ability to effectively communicate in a cross-cultural setting. “Teach, Travel, Learn”—the two-day workshop sponsored by the AAOS and Orthopaedics Overseas—will help prepare you for the challenges of teaching orthopaedics in the developing world.

“Teach, Travel, Learn”—the two-day workshop sponsored by the AAOS and Orthopaedics Overseas—will help prepare you for the challenges of teaching orthopaedics in the developing world. |
Whether you’re already committed to finding a volunteer opportunity or just interested in learning more, this workshop gives you a better understanding of the realities of volunteering in a setting where resources are scarce and the infrastructure is unfamiliar. It will enable you to prepare for the experience, both personally and professionally.
The workshop also includes a special session for spouses that covers how they can contribute and what they can do if they choose to travel along.
Teach, Travel, Learn is scheduled for June 13-14, at George Washington University Medical Center, in Washington, D.C. Register before March 31 and save $50 on tuition. Deep discounts (of more than 50 percent!) are available to the first five residents who register.
Stop by the Orthopaedics Overseas booth, located on the Upper Level Lobby, Moscone West, Booth C16, to register or pick up more information.
