OREF acknowledges corporate partners
By Jean McGuire and Judy Sherr
On Feb. 15, the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) announced it had received a record $15.7 million in corporate partner commitments in 2010 to support education and research. This figure includes more than $1.4 million raised by OREF for other orthopaedic organizations such as the AAOS and several specialty societies.
OREF CDP awards
Funding commitments from nine companies made $7.6 million available for 2011-2012 OREF Clinician Development Program (CDP) grants. OREF corporate partners supporting CDP for the 2011-2012 academic year are Medtronic, DePuy, Biomet, Smith & Nephew, Stryker, Synthes, Zimmer, DJO, and Pfizer.
CDP grants awarded to teaching and training institutions support graduate medical and continuing education. In 2011, grants will fund 112 fellowships, 96 residency enhancement programs, 30 CME programs, and five individual investigators.
OREF awarded an additional 61 individual research grants and awards funded primarily by contributions from AAOS members, academic departments, and practice groups. A complete roster of OREF grant recipients can be viewed at www.oref.org/grantrecipients
