Don’t Miss Business, Ceremonial Meetings
Tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., the annual business meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons will be held in the Grand Ballroom of McCormick Place. AAOS President John R. Tongue, MD, will preside. During the Academy meeting, Andrew Pollak, MD, AAOS treasurer, will present his report, and fellows will also hear reports from Edward Akelman, MD, on the Academy Education Enhancement Fund; Ramon Jimenez, MD, on the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation; and Michael Parks, MD on Academy Resolutions. Fellows will have the opportunity to vote on resolutions after the Annual Meeting.
During the Association business meeting, fellows will have the opportunity to nominate individuals for the 2014 Nominating Committee and will hear reports from Stuart L. Weinstein, MD, on the Political Action Committee; and from Dr. Parks on Association Resolutions Committee. The results of the election of AAOS officers and other positions will be announced, retiring members of the current board of directors will be recognized, and the new members will be announced.
The business meetings are followed by the Ceremonial Meeting, at which time the William W. Tipton Jr, MD, Leadership Award, the Humanitarian Award, and the Diversity Award will be presented and the incoming second vice-president will address the fellowship.
