Washington Health Policy Fellowship Program
The AAOS is seeking exceptional senior orthopaedic residents and fellows in training to apply for the AAOS Washington Health Policy Fellowship Program. This outstanding opportunity enables fellows to contribute to and better understand the health policy processes at the federal level. Fellows actively take part in the formulation of national health policies and accelerate their careers as leaders in health policy.
The program will fund up to two orthopaedic residents per year and provide them with the opportunity to work in the legislative and regulatory arena. Applicants should be aware that, while flexible, the fellowship requires a considerable time commitment. A fellow could opt to spend a finite block of time in Washington, D.C., or visit intermittently throughout the year as time permits. Attendance at some AAOS meetings, such as the National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference, is required.
The AAOS Washington Office will work with the selected applicants to design a flexible program that meets his or her needs, interests, and schedule. Program directors are urged to alert resident members of their departments about this exciting opportunity.
The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the AAOS Washington Health Policy Fellowship Program is Dec. 31, 2007. Additional information and application materials can be found online at www.aaos.org/washfell.pdf
