The 5th Edition of the “POSNA Resident Review" is Now Available for Viewing on the POSNA Web Site
In this edition, we highlight and interview Dr. Ellen Raney; as a leader in Pediatric Orthopaedics she brings a unique perspective on the Shrine Hospital System and what it’s like to be a woman in Pediatric Orthopaedics. In addition, we highlight the importance of the Orthopaedic Political Action Committee in health care reform with an interview with Dr Stuart Weinstein.
Rounding out this edition are OITE style questions on Pediatric Lower Extremity Deformity. Finally, we took the opportunity to survey the membership of POSNA and asked them to tell us what diagnosis should never be missed in the Emergency Room. We hope that all residents will learn from the “Top 5 Diagnosis to Make in the Emergency Room”.
We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Practice Tips
Death of an Orthopaedic Group
By Robert Garroway, MD, MBA
How could a busy, six-surgeon orthopaedic practice that had been in business for more than 45 years simply fall apart over a 2-year period? Could the problems that undermined this practice have a similar impact on your practice?
Many factors may contribute to such demise, including inefficient or untrained management, old behavior patterns, an inappropriate expense ratio, lack of productivity, unwise investment in and use of ancillaries, and hospital relationships. It’s not a happy story, but it offers a number of lessons. Read the complete article in AAOS Now.
