DO YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT THE AAOS?
RESIDENT SURVEY!
The Candidate, Resident and Fellow Committee (CRFC) has received requests that the AAOS consider creating a separate resident body within the Academy that is governed exclusively by residents. With this survey, the CRFC can establish the need for this resident group. This survey is intended to assess overall resident awareness of the AAOS and its respective involvement with residents, and also gage general interest in such a body, and how it should be organized (including resident issues that should be preferentially represented by such a group). Your input is critical to the future of this project. All responses will be anonymous.

AAHKS Resident Mentoring Program
The AAHKS membership committee with the help of Dr. Jay Lieberman, Education Committee liaison, has developed a Resident Mentorship Program. It is designed to place a resident in contact with an AAHKS Fellow Member who would be available as a resource for a variety of reasons. The intention of this program is not to replace a resident’s mentor within his or her program, but this program should be seen as an additional resource for residents. We are looking for Resident Members or Resident Non-members wishing to become Resident members, to participate in the Mentoring Program. For additional information, or if you are interested in becoming a mentee, please contact Krista Stewart, Membership and Coding Specialist by email or 847-384-4376.

Practice Tips
By Bill Champion
Patient growth in an orthopaedic practice is influenced by several variables including, but not limited to, competitors, payer networks, and health system arrangements. Although these external forces are influential, critical choices in personnel, management, physician commitment, and adaptability determine whether or not the practice effectively communicates leadership, brand superiority, and market preference.
