HOT TOPIC: Stories Needed!
The Academy is using the power of stories as the focus of two of our national public awareness campaigns and we need your help to keep the stories coming.
We need distracted driving stories
In partnership with the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, the Academy has worked to influence the decisions people make behind the wheel with our “Decide to Drive” public awareness campaign against distracted driving. DecidetoDrive.org hosts numerous stories of victims of distracted driving related crashes.
How you can help: Have your patients, family and friends visit decidetodrive.org and share their stories of distracted driving incidences. They will also be able to vote on the severity level of other stories that are posted. Levels include “a slap on wrist” and “revoke their license.”
We also need patient success stories for anationinmotion.org
“A Nation in Motion” is the Academy’s new awareness campaign that highlights the value of orthopaedic care. The campaign’s site has stories of hundreds of patients who are back doing the things they love because of their orthopaedic care and we are still looking for more!
How you can help: If you have patient stories, please visit the site and submit your story. Read patient success stories that reaffirm the importance of fighting for one’s mobility and the value of orthopaedic care. Also encourage your patients to do the same and tell your friends, family members and colleagues about the campaign and encourage them to share their stories with us.
Additional resources such as postcards and other handouts for “A Nation in Motion” and “Decide to Drive” are available on aaos.org/prresources. For more information on how to order, email media@aaos.org.
