Presenter Bio: Robert H. Haralson III, MD, MBA
Dr. Haralson attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He received his MD from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in 1963. He completed his Orthopaedic residency at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis. After two years in the US Army, he opened a practice in Maryville, Tennessee. In 1998, he returned to the University of Tennessee and earned an MBA. In 2004, he moved to Chicago where he assumed the role of Medical Director of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
He has served as Chief of Surgery and as Chief of Staff at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was Chairman of the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and was Treasurer of the AAOS for 3 years. He has served as the President of the American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians and of the Clinical Orthopaedic Society
He was the editor of the musculoskeletal section of the 4th edition of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, and served the same role on the 5th edition. He served 4 years on the AMA CPT Editorial Panel. He presently serves on the Executive Committee and the Planning Advisory Committee of the AMA Physician’s Consortium for Performance Improvement and is the Chair of the Health Professional Council of the NQF.
