Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS)
Alternative Reporting Methods in 2011
An alternative to reporting measures through claims is to report the data through a qualified registry. Both individual measures and measures groups may be reported through a qualified registry (Figure 2).
Eligible professionals that report measures through a registry will need to enter into and maintain an appropriate legal arrangement with a qualified 2011 PQRI registry. An updated list of qualified registries for 2011 PQRI will be posted to the CMS web site on December 31, 2010.
Reporting criteria for registry reporting for individual or group measures:
For the January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 reporting period:
- Report on at least 3 individual PQRI measures on 80% of the applicable patients OR
- Report on 80% of applicable patients for a measure group and must report each measure group on a minimum of 15 applicable patients OR
- Report 1 measure group for at least 30 applicable patients
For the July 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 reporting period:
- Report on at least 3 individual PQRI Measures on 80% of the applicable patients OR
- Report on 80% of applicable patients for a measure group and must report each measure group on at least 8 applicable patients.
Eligible professionals whose 2011 PQRI quality measure information is successfully submitted by a registry and satisfies the applicable criteria for the January-December (full-year) reporting period OR the July-December (half-year) reporting period may earn an incentive payment equal to 1.0% of their total allowed charges for MPFS covered professional services furnished during the applicable 2011 reporting period.
