AAOS One-Day Part II Board Preparation and Review

Focus your preparation and gain confidence for the 2019 oral examination!

Spend a day with Board Certified Academy Fellows to practice and build plans for your successful case presentation and defense. Understand Part II examination expectations through:

  • Video examples of case presentations
  • Discussion with questions and answers
  • Faculty instruction on case presentation
  • Tips on presenting complication cases

Then You Present! Using your own patient cases, gain first-hand presentation experience in individual simulated oral examination sessions with two faculty, selected across the orthopaedic specialties. Experience various questioning styles, get immediate feedback and advice, uncover common mistakes, and formulate ways to avoid trouble.

New This Year! One-to-One Consultation Sessions
For an additional fee, register for one 20-minute session with a faculty member to ask additional questions beyond your presentation session and further improve your presentation and defense. As the capacity for each session is very limited, registration is limited to one consultation slot per registrant.

  • Session 1 runs from 4:45 pm – 5:05 pm.
  • Session 2 runs from 5:10 pm – 5:30 pm.

Back by Popular Demand!

  • Top Ten Controversial Topics for your Specialty: Attend one of seven subspecialty-specific presentations on navigating indications, updates, and advances with recent literature and practice controversies. Ask additional questions in these small-group breakout sessions.

  • Be an Observer! Not ready to present your cases in May? Use this course to observe your peers, listen to feedback as they present in simulated mock oral sessions, and participate in the overview lectures. Not taking Part II in 2019? This course can help guide your collection and preparation year and help you avoid mistakes early on.

Here’s what you can expect!

Time is guaranteed to present THREE patient cases*. Select the cases that challenge you the most and ask the experts! Think critically and build your strategies by observing your peers in their mock sessions, and watching different examination styles. Be prepared to present alternate cases as another registrant may present a similar case.

* Case presentations are limited to 8 minutes each. If time permits, attendees will have the opportunity to present more than three cases. Presenting participants should bring three copies of the SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR AT LEAST THREE CASES and be prepared to navigate through the ABOS website to present all digital X-ray, MRI, CT and arthroscopic images. We recommend that attendees bring digital images on a USB drive as a backup.

After registering, please refer to the full mock video and checklist under 'Materials & Syllabus' below for more details on preparing for this course.

Not presenting in 2019? Join the preparation webinar on March 28!
