What better way to wrap up your time in Las Vegas than with a healthy, invigorating run that benefits orthopaedic research? Lace up your running shoes this Friday and join hundreds of your colleagues at 6:00 a.m. for the 2009 AAOS Sunrise 5K Run.

To register, visit the 5K Run booth in Venetian Ballroom F today or tomorrow, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The race is limited to the first 500 participants, so register early if you want to guarantee a spot on the starting line. The fee is $25, and all of the proceeds go to support the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation.

Preregistered runners should also stop by the 5K booth to pick up their bib numbers and commemorative t-shirts. Timing chips will be available on race day only.

Everyone’s a winner

At 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, runners will gather in the outside staging area at the Fashion Show Mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. The Treasure Island and Wynn Hotels overlook the starting line.

Announcements and a quick warm-up are scheduled for 5:45 a.m.; the race begins at 6:00 a.m. sharp.

As they cross the finish line, participants will be photographed for a complimentary souvenir photo. Catered refreshments will be provided at race’s end, and an awards ceremony will honor runners in various age and gender categories.

The Sunrise 5K Run—sponsored by Smith & Nephew—promises to be a fun, friendly, and refreshing way to kick-start your Friday. Whether you hope to break the tape at the finish line, or just enjoy a leisurely jog with friends, you can’t lose. Why not “ante up” and register today?
