Management of the Infected Total Knee Arthroplasty

Abstract

As the number of total knee arthoplasties performed continues to rise, infection will more often be a prominent reason for failure of the implant. Surgical treatment, which can include implant revision or débridement that retains components, is usually indicated. The goals of treatment include pain relief, restored function, and elimination of infection.
