Telling the whole truth?

Sign up now for a free Webinar on SOPs

Orthopaedic surgeons are frequently called upon to provide medical testimony in legal or administrative proceedings. To establish minimum levels of acceptable conduct for AAOS members who provide such testimony, the Academy adopted the Standards of Professionalism (SOPs) on Orthopaedic Expert Witness Testimony in April 2005.

To further your understanding of the SOPs on Orthopaedic Expert Witness Testimony and the Grievance Process, the Academy is hosting “Telling the Whole Truth: Orthopaedists as Expert Witnesses and the Grievance Process”—a free, interactive Webinar on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Moderated by Tamara L. Martin, MD, the 90-minute Webinar will feature the orthopaedic surgeons involved in developing the guidelines and attorneys specializing in medical liability.

The best of both worlds
A live Webinar combines the best of both worlds when it comes to educational programming. One of the benefits of attending a live program is the off-the-cuff conversation or a particularly insightful answer to a question. A Webinar blends the advantages of attending a live program with the convenience of viewing the program online while sitting at your home or office computer.

The Webinar will feature faculty presentations and videos, live interactive polling exercises, and an online question-and-answer session—providing viewers with an in-depth look at the SOPs. It will focus on the following topics:

  • SOPs on Orthopaedic Expert Witness Testimony
  • The AAOS Grievance Process
  • The AAOS Professional Compliance Program

If you are unable to participate on Sept. 10, the program will be posted on the Orthopaedic Knowledge Online Web site later this fall. Although the live Webinar is free, there will be a fee ($29 for AAOS members/residents and $89 for nonmembers) to access the program after Sept. 10.

Whether you choose to tune into the live session or view the program at a later date, you can receive up to 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME CreditsTM by completing a postevent evaluation form.
