Look ahead to coding changes for 2009

It’s time to update your coding resources for 2009. The Academy’s completely updated coding product line will help you and your office stay ahead of changes, avoid denied or delayed claims and costly fines, and increase your reimbursements. Together, these products encompass many of code and cross-reference changes that will go into effect in 2009.

Orthopaedic Code X 2009 combines all six major coding databases—Current Procedural Terminology (CPTÒ), International Classification of Disease (ICD)-9, Global Service Data, Relative Value Units (RVU), Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System—into one powerful program. This versatile coding program is the ultimate tool for fast, easy, and accurate coding and cross-reference.

The AAOS Musculoskeletal Coding Guide2009 (formerly Orthopaedic CPT® Coding Guide) explains the five levels of evaluation and management codes, and includes practical coding scenarios to help you understand coding changes so that you can code to the highest specificity. The guide also lists RVU equivalents for each CPT code.

Complete Global Service Data for Orthopaedic Surgery–2009 details inclusions and exclusions for more than 1,500 musculoskeletal procedures. Organized by anatomy, this two-volume set devotes a full page to each CPT code.

The AAOS Procedure/ICD-9 Code Cross-Reference–2009 (formerly CPT®/ICD-9 Cross-Reference for Orthopaedic Surgery) links primary and secondary ICD references applicable to each musculoskeletal CPT code and spells out exclusions. It also includes fifth-digit breakdowns for localized diagnoses.
