The SOMOS 50th annual meeting will be held Dec. 8–13, 2008, at Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas. The meeting will be hosted by the National Naval Medical Center, located in Bethesda, Md. |
The scientific program will include a combat extremity course, sessions on foot/ankle, tumor/infection, physical therapy, adult reconstruction, pediatrics, basic science, spine, and hand. AAOS President and former U.S. Army orthopaedic surgeon Tony Rankin, MD, will deliver the keynote address, and retired COL John Feagin Jr., MD, will give a presentation on the history of SOMOS.
In addition, the first COL Brian Allgood, MD Military Orthopaedic Leadership Award will be bestowed upon a military orthopaedic surgeon who has distinguished himself or herself as an exceptional leader in military orthopaedic surgery. COL Allgood was killed in combat in Iraq on Jan. 20, 2007.
