Creator of ABOS Board Preparation & Review Course “retires”
For 7 years, Frank J. Frassica, MD, has organized the Academy’s Board Preparation and Review Course for orthopaedic surgery residents preparing for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) Part 1 Examination. The 2011 course, held April 13–17, in Chicago, was his last as course director, and the AAOS acknowledged his efforts with a recognition plaque.
Frank J. Frassica,
The course uses didactic lectures, informal evening study sessions, daily on-site test questions, pre- and post-tests, refresher webinars, and interactive audience response sessions. During his tenure as course director, Dr. Frassica has prepared more than 1,620 residents for the ABOS Part I exam.
“Dr. Frassica has made the AAOS Board Review course the best in the country for our specialty,” said A. Jay Khanna, MD, who will succeed Dr. Frassica as course director. “His passion and interest in teaching residents and recertifying surgeons, the countless hours he has devoted to developing content, and his selection and mentorship of faculty members are inspiring.
“I am honored that the AAOS and Dr. Frassica have asked me to help carry on his tradition,” continued Dr. Khanna. “I will strive to maintain the standards set by Dr. Frassica and hope to take the course to a new level of excellence in 2012.”
He’ll have help—Dr. Frassica will be one of the faculty members at the 2012 course, scheduled for April 11–15, 2012.
