At the AAOS Annual Meeting, learning extends well beyond the educational sessions. The Technical Exhibits offer attendees an unparalleled opportunity to view and compare the latest in orthopaedic products and services.
“The Technical Exhibits provide attendees with a single destination—and multiple opportunities—to complement the educational activities of the AAOS Annual Meeting,” said Joseph T. Moskal, MD, FACS, Exhibits Committee chair.
“With more than 625 companies exhibiting, there is so much to do in the exhibit halls: see, touch, and compare products; attend presentations and demonstrations; and ask questions of representatives,” he said.
Exhibits will be on display at the San Diego Convention Center in Hall A-H from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One hour of unopposed exhibit time will be provided each day from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., enabling attendees to tour the exhibit floor without missing an educational session.
Dr. Moskal noted the following new offerings for the 2017 Annual Meeting:
- The mid-morning break on Friday has been expanded to provide one hour of unopposed exhibit time from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- To assist attendees with finding their way around the exhibit hall, Wayfinders will be located outside the entrances of Halls A, C, E, and G. Here, attendees can search for exhibitors and products, and receive directions to specific booths. Printed exhibit hall maps with exhibitor booth listings will also be available.
- Some exhibitors will be conducting non–continuing medical education (CME) Bioskills Sessions at the San Diego Convention Center. Advance registration for these sessions is handled solely by the exhibitors that have secured Bioskills Session space. The Academy is not responsible for the content, faculty, or registration of attendees for these exhibitor Bioskills Session events.
Included among the more than 625 exhibitors are companies specializing in implants, bone and tissue products, computer software, surgical equipment and instruments, and practice management. These products are designed to meet the specific needs of orthopaedic surgeons, from residents to experienced practitioners.
“This is the largest gathering of orthopaedic product and service companies in the world,” said Dr. Moskal. “Attendees can explore and compare thousands of innovative devices, software, applications, and business tools to assist them in providing a higher level of care to their patients and managing their practices more effectively.”
He added that “exhibitors at the AAOS Annual Meeting make a considerable investment to meet with attendees. In return, attendee participation helps support the incomparable array of educational opportunities available at the meeting.”
