Rep. Johnson's sponsorship of legislation to remove federal restrictions led to growth of physician-owned hospitals
On Dec. 12, 2017, the Physician Hospitals of America (PHA), with support from AAOS, hosted a dinner saluting Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas) for his legacy of leadership in the fight for physician-led healthcare.
Master of Ceremonies John Dietz, MD, along with a large group of physicians and members of Congress, thanked Rep. Johnson for sponsoring legislation to remove federal restrictions on the growth of physician-owned hospitals.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) extolled Rep. Johnson, a former prisoner of war in the Korea and Vietnam wars, for his service, steadfastness, and commitment to ensuring patients receive the very best care possible.
Rep. Johnson will retire at the end of the 2018 congressional term, after 63 years of service in the United States Air Force, the Texas House of Representatives, and the U.S. House of Representatives.
