The Annual AAOS Resident Bowl is a no-holds-barred trivia competition pitting residency programs against each other in a game-style setting. Residents will compete in teams of four in a quiz-bowl format for grand and runner-up prizes. The event is sponsored by DePuy Synthes.
Annual Meeting attendees interested in watching can come cheer for the teams on Thursday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Room E354A.
The Resident Bowl will once again be hosted by David D. Teuscher, MD, FAAOS, and will consist of three rounds. The first two rounds will have 20 questions each covering a mix of topics, including orthopaedics, orthopaedic history, and general trivia.
The two top-scoring teams will advance to the final round. The scores will reset to zero and teams will answer five questions. If a team buzzes in before the emcee has completed reading the question, he will not finish the question until an answer is given. Once the buzzer is pressed, the team will have 10 seconds to answer. If the first team that buzzes in does not answer correctly in the final round, the other team will have the opportunity to answer the question. In the event of a tie, additional questions will be asked.
Gift certificates will be presented to the winners, as well as promotions in various AAOS publications.
All Annual Meeting attendees are welcome to be in the audience. Break up the educational sessions in Thursday’s schedule with the Resident Bowl and root for the participating residents. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided, as well as seating for audience members.
