AAOS Receives Accolades with Three Top Workplace Awards in 2023

AAOS has once again been named one of the best places to work by multiple award programs. For the fourth consecutive year, AAOS was recognized as a “Top Workplace” by the Chicago Tribune. For the third consecutive year, AAOS was named one of the “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” in Chicago and in the Nation by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR). These three accolades continue to solidify AAOS’ reputation as a premier employer.

The Chicago Tribune Top Workplace award is based on employee feedback gathered through the third-party survey service Energage. The anonymous survey measures 15 drivers of organizational culture, including alignment, execution, connection, and more. This year, AAOS reached a 91 percent employee participation rate in the survey, which was the highest the organization has seen in its history of applying for the award. The overwhelming response rate and positive feedback clearly illustrate that AAOS continues to foster a positive, professional, and wellness-focused workplace. This is achieved by bringing employees together through a shared mission and fostering a community of unique talent that values innovation, continued learning, and diversity.

“We are honored to have received these awards, as they underscore the rewarding, inclusive, and high-performing work environment we have created,” said AAOS CEO Thomas E. Arend Jr, JD, CAE. “It is a privilege to be a part of this dedicated team, who shows an unwavering commitment to excellence in making AAOS the best place to work.”

Organizations honored with the Best and Brightest awards by the NABR are evaluated by an independent research firm on measures related to compensation; benefits and employee solutions; creative wellness and well-being solutions; employee enrichment; engagement and retention; employee education and development; recruitment and selection; employee achievement and recognition; communication and shared vision; diversity, equity, and inclusion; work-life blend; community initiatives and corporate responsibility; and leadership, strategy, and company performance.

“Companies that made the list of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, as well as those companies that continue to make the list, are truly remarkable. Given today’s need for talent, retention of talent, and the further issues related to the pandemic, these companies have proven they are superior to market conditions. They are elite thinkers, and this honor demonstrates their commitment to excellence,” said NABR President and CEO Jennifer Kluge.

The award judges are not the only ones who think AAOS is a great place to work. AAOS staff expressed their sentiments on what makes AAOS a top workplace:

“AAOS creates an environment where employees are given the freedom to take calculated risks, learn from the results, and continue to grow and thrive,” said Project Management Office Director Lane Compton.

“It’s the coworkers! We have a diverse team of employees who are brilliant at what they do, and everyone truly lives by the ‘TEAM’ values of Teamwork, Empowerment, Accountability, and a Mindset of Growth. AAOS members respect and appreciate staff expertise and enjoy collaborating with staff across various programs and strategic focus areas,” said Senior Director of Health Policy Shreyasi Deb.
