Improving osteoporosis care delivery and fracture-prevention counseling is critical to musculoskeletal healthcare. However, the time spent counseling patients has previously not been accounted for or reimbursed separately from other osteoporosis services. On Aug. 12, attend the webinar “Osteoporosis Fracture Care Counseling Coding” to learn about how to optimize reimbursement for these services using existing Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes.
Hear from William Creevy, MD, FAAOS, and Noah Raizman, MD, FAAOS, members of the AAOS Coding, Coverage, and Reimbursement Committee (CCRC), along with Eric Swart, MD, FAAOS, of the AAOS Health Care Systems Committee (HCSC). The CCRC and HCSC have identified how to use CPT codes to capture the work involved in osteoporosis counseling and improve delivery of osteoporosis care and fracture-prevention counseling. The coding method aims to incentivize physicians to have explicit conversations with patients about osteoporosis care, document those conversations, and create a digital marker for patients who are at risk for future fractures.
