  • Medical Students Demonstrate Public Policy Skills on the Hill

    On Nov. 15, 2018, the AAOS Office of Government Relations (OGR) hosted 26 medical students from Howard University College of Medicine for the Second Annual AAOS-Nth Dimensions Capitol Hill Day. The event was part of an ongoing collaboration with Nth Dimensions, an organization dedicated to supporting women and minorities in orthopaedics.

  • BOS Records Significant Victories in 2018

    The final year of the 115th Congress brought success for several long-fought priorities of orthopaedic specialty societies. In partnership with the AAOS Office of Government Relations (OGR), the Board of Specialties (BOS) has worked to ensure that the priorities of each interested society are part of its overall advocacy strategy. This coalition has produced tangible policy victories for orthopaedics and continues to be a cornerstone of advocacy work in Washington, D.C., and in the states.

  • OGR Introduces the 2019 Resident Advocacy Fellows

    The AAOS Office of Government Relations (OGR) recently wrapped up the inaugural year of its Resident Advocacy Fellowship program. Launched in early 2018, the one-year fellowship is designed to encourage orthopaedic residents to participate in the national health policy arena and ultimately become lifelong advocates of the profession. “The fellowship is an unprecedented opportunity for residents to learn firsthand about the importance of advocacy in orthopaedic life,” explained Stuart L.

    The Orthopaedic Political Action Committee (PAC) supports candidates for federal office who champion orthopaedic issues and help advance the legislative agenda of AAOS. The PAC is pleased to announce that it raised $4 million for the 2018 election cycle—the best cycle in its rich history and a more than 14 percent increase from last cycle.
