This exciting and revamped surgical skills course, led by top surgeons in the field, provides the latest updates in total hip arthroplasty – both inside and outside of the operating room. Over two days, get u
p to speed on current best practices and the latest technologies designed to enhance patient outcomes for primary and revision THA.

Kick off the course with classroom-style learning to refresh your fundamental on planning, protocols, decision-making and complication management. Deep dive into one of the hottest areas in THA – outpatient surgery – with a new section focused on total hip economics. Lectures, discussions, case reviews and videos make for a dynamic learning format.

Then, spend one full day in the cadaver lab getting hands-on experience with new technology. In small groups, you will rotate through each technology station to familiarize yourself with the equipment and practice state-of-the-art techniques including:

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:

  1. Complete thorough preoperative planning for primary total hip arthroplasty including preoperative medical optimization, stem designs, fixation options and bearing surfaces
  2. Determine approach options for THR including direct anterior, anterolateral and posterior as well as extensile approaches to the hip joint
  3. Avoid, identify and manage complications following hip arthroplasty including fracture, infection, dislocation, and adverse local reaction
  4. Understand and integrate the latest technologies into practice
  5. Begin the transition to outpatient THA
