Strategies For Outpatient Rapid Recovery in Cemented TKA – The Benefits of the Tourniquetless Approach and the Role of CarboJet

Presented by: R. Michael Meneghini, MD

Cemented fixation is still the predominant approach to TKA and will continue to be the more appropriate approach for many patients. Avoiding use of a tourniquet in these cases offers particular benefit in the outpatient setting. Use of the CarboJet CO2 Bone Preparation system will be discussed as a key tool in the tourniquetless approach. Surgical video of CarboJet use in a tourniquetless TKA case will be shown. The benefits of using CarboJet to “deep clean” and dry the bone bed and remove marrow elements/lipids, with the goal of optimizing fixation in any cemented arthroplasty, with or without tourniquet use, will be discussed.

Leveraging Technology in Total Joint Arthroplasty to Help Patients, Surgeons and ASCs in the Modern Era
