Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Understand the epidemiology of complex primary and revision total joint replacement
- Formulate strategies for preoperative planning of complex primary and revision arthroplasty based on relevant history, exam and imaging
- Recognize the classification schemes of bone defects in revision surgery and implications for implant choice
- Practice extensile approaches to the hip and knee, as well as techniques to safely remove well fixed components
- Recognize common intraoperative complications and develop a systematic way of managing them
- Understand various technologic adjuncts that can be utilized for complex primary and revision arthroplasty cases
