Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, learners should be able to:
- Complete thorough preoperative planning for primary total hip arthroplasty including preoperative medical optimization, stem designs, fixation options and bearing surfaces
• Determine approach options for primary THR including direct anterior, anterolateral and posterior approach to the hip joint
• Improve skills used to perform an extensile approach for revision THR
• Identify and manage complications following hip arthroplasty including fracture, infection, dislocation, and adverse local reaction
• Manage the extent of bone loss and deformity in revision hip surgery
• Formulate strategies for management of the defects on both the femur and acetabulum
