How has the AAOS helped you throughout your career?
I have been an AAOS member since I finished my Orthopedic Residency in Brazil back in 2010. The knowledge and connections acquired by being part of the AAOS meetings and membership have allowed my personal and academic growth, as well as extensive networking, opening doors and creating multiple opportunities.

As a Candidate Member, which AAOS resources do you use most and why?
I have utilized many of the opportunities provided by my AAOS Membership. My favorite ones are the access to the online platform and learning opportunities, JAAOS articles as well as the complimentary registration for the annual meetings.

What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I had regarding AAOS activities came from my main mentor Dr. Lew Schon from Baltimore-MD. “During the AAOS Annual Meeting, make sure you take the time to walk through the industry booths, visit every single company and introduce yourself, ask questions, learn about their products, network. Also, at the same time, meet colleagues and create connections”. I try to do that every time.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?
Use every single minute you have dedicated to work so you can enjoy your free time. Multi-task while working, so you can “gain" extra minutes/hours in each day.

What’s one thing you’re currently trying to make a habit?
Work out early in the morning so the day starts strong

What hobbies do you enjoy in your spare time?
Spending time with my 13- and 8-year-old daughters, Learn how to play the guitar.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that not many people know?
I’m a Big Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne fan. With his recent passing, I feel like I lost a close friend that has been part of my life for more than 30 years. I have had the pleasure to watch him live many times, and Thanks God I had the unique opportunity to be in Birmingham - UK for his last concert with Black Sabbath, only 2 weeks before his passing. That was a blessed opportunity to say goodbye to my idol. I would never have forgiven myself if I had not been there.
